Who we are
We are a very dynamic company with almost 100 years’ experience, specialists in the manufacture of potato crisps and snacks.
We make homemade potato crisps according to José Argente’s recipe, using fryers equipped with the latest technology to prevent excess oil in the final product.
In 1924, José Argente installed a small fryer in a room of his house to serve customers in Alberic and nearby villages.
These days, our products are sold in 27 countries across 4 continents.

A LITTLE BIT OF OUR HISTORY
1924
José Argente became a crisp maker and set up, in a small room of his house, the first factory of what we now know as Papas Argente, S.A.
1930
Returnable, cylindrical metal containers were used since, at that time, plastic bags did not exist. With all the containers they were able to carry, they travelled around the area by train looking for new customers with whom they could establish commercial relationships.
1940
Difficult times in Spain, after the Civil War, the ARGENTE family tried to reactivate the company.
1945
Sales were no longer made directly to consumer families and began to be channelled through the trade sector. A new Vespa scooter was bought to make deliveries.
1955
The machinery was still rudimentary and the facilities were not adequate for the expansion being experienced by the factory at that time. A small delivery van replaced the old Vespa scooter.
1975
Fernando Argente took charge of this small factory in order to give the company a new vision for the future.
The facilities were expanded and the company moved to the outskirts of Alberique. New machinery was acquired, including the First Spanish Automatic Packing Line.
2000
The new generation took over the company.
The founder’s grandson became the manager. Together with his father and brother, they work in a company with more than 80 years’ history.
The exporting spirit of this company began with the third generation, which means that we are now present in more than 27 countries.
